Barking Out

East LA Classic:
Dog's day in the pound

The smell of hot dogs, pizza and fries filled the air of East Los Angeles College's Wiengard Stadium on Friday night Nov. 12th. The Rough Riders were favored to win by at least three touchdowns and continue on to the playoffs. Garfield was being considered for playoff status, earlier in the season, but due to a clerical error, the team and community was rocked all the way to the foundation of the football program when news of an investigation had been in effect for more than a month. It seems that the address for the starting quarterback, Peter Mora was in contest and regardless of the continous shouts of innocence, a court judge ruled that Mora was ineligable to represent for the bulldogs at the position of quarterback. The judge also ruled that all the wins under Mora would be turned over as losses in accordance with CIF rules on ineligablity of players. Therefore, the once proud record of 8-2 was turned into a 2-8 record.
Why this was done.

It seems that the new principal, we'll call her "Mrs. D.", wanted to show off her new power and by making more enemies then friends, she has become a=one of the most two faced Janus of all. She had to go and ruin a young man's future playing for a big time college over her own sense of personal power trip. To put it in a nutshell the Bulldogs Took their revenage on Roosevelt by defeating them 16-13 and forcing them in sharing the league title with Bell High, better to share it then horde. So I tip my helmet to the mighty Bulldogs of Garfield High School who really know how to pump that bulldog spirit up.
